EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION: HOW ROTARACT TRANSFORMS YOUTH

By Monica Paula A. Serrano

Rotaract has played a vital role in my journey, shaping me into the leader I am today. My story started as an Interactor at Imus National High School, where I first experienced the power of service. That initial spark of community involvement led me to become a dedicated Rotaractor and, eventually, the District Rotaract Representative for Rotary International District 3810 in Rotary Year 2025–2026.

Serving as President of the Rotaract Club of Imus during Rotary Year 2020–2021 with the theme “Rotary Opens Opportunities”, I saw firsthand how youth can channel their energy and creativity to create real change. Whether through community service, fundraising, or advocacy, we learned that opportunities open when we come together with a shared purpose.

Today, as the Club Adviser for the Interact Club of Wagayway Imus, I have the honor of mentoring young leaders, guiding them as they begin their own journeys of service. Watching them grow, take initiative, and make a meaningful impact is both inspiring and rewarding.

This year’s Rotary theme, “Unite for Good”, highlights the strength of collaboration. It shows that by combining our efforts, regardless of our backgrounds or differences, we can accomplish greater things together. Youth, especially through Rotaract, are already demonstrating how this unity can lead to change, whether through community projects, advocacy, or global initiatives.

Rotaract has taught me that youth leadership is not just about skill development but about having a movement of service, empathy, and collaboration. As we Unite for Good, we not only transform our communities but also inspire the next generation to lead with compassion and purpose. Together, we can create a lasting difference.
