Rotary District 3810 Launches New Rotary Year with High-Spirited Kick-Off at Cuneta Astrodome
Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City | July 02, 2025 | 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM
In a vibrant and heartfelt celebration of service and solidarity, Rotary International District 3810 officially welcomed the new Rotary year with a high-energy District Kick-Off Project held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the iconic Cuneta Astrodome.
Themed under the Rotary Year 2025–2026 global call to “Unite for Good”, the event gathered hundreds of Rotarians, Rotaractors, local officials, civic leaders, and volunteers from Manila, Pasay, Cavite, and Occidental Mindoro — the four proud pillars of District 3810. The occasion marked the first major district-wide gathering under the leadership of newly installed District Governor Mary Mei Rodrigo, who now steers the district with vision and vigor for the year ahead.
A Morning of Movement, Message, and Mission
The program kicked off with an energetic Zumba session at 7:00 AM, setting the tone for a day of unity and wellness. Participants of all ages moved and grooved together, proving that service can begin with smiles and sweat.
At 7:30 AM, the gathering was graced with a soul-stirring morning prayer and inspirational preaching by Fr. Alex Balatbat, whose reflection reminded everyone of the spiritual depth behind Rotary’s commitment to humanity. His homily echoed themes of compassion, humility, and collective responsibility — grounding the day’s activities in purpose and faith.
At 8:00 AM, the formal program commenced with an impressive roll call of club leaders, district officers, and dignitaries. The entire morning’s lineup was strategically designed to underscore Rotary International’s 7 Areas of Focus, namely: Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and Literacy, Community Economic Development, and Supporting the Environment.
Honoring Partners and Strengthening Bonds
A highlight of the morning was the warm welcome and appreciation extended to Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, whose strong alliance with Rotary District 3810 continues to empower grassroots partnerships across the city. Mayor Emi’s presence signified a growing synergy between local government and civil society, both working hand-in-hand to uplift Filipino communities.
In her brief address, Mayor Emi commended the “indomitable spirit of Rotarians” and pledged her continued support for programs that touch lives, inspire hope, and build better cities. Her longstanding relationship with Rotary has been characterized by mutual respect and a shared commitment to public service.
Spotlight on District Governor Mary Mei Rodrigo
In her address as District Governor, DG Mary Mei Rodrigo rallied the assembly with her impassioned call to “Unite for Good.” She shared her hopes for the Rotary year — not only in terms of projects and numbers — but more so in building bridges among clubs, empowering the next generation of leaders, and deepening the culture of empathy and excellence within the district.
“Today, we do not just begin another year. We embrace a movement of purpose,” said DG Mary Mei. “Let us unite our hearts, our hands, and our hopes. Because when we work together — for good — we become an unstoppable force of change.”
Voices on Air: Spreading the Rotary Spirit
Beyond the walls of the Astrodome, the message of service reached the airwaves through a live guesting on DZRH’s Operation Tulong with Rotarian Mae Binuhan. Through this radio feature, the public was given a glimpse into the heart of Rotary service and its powerful impact across communities, particularly under the umbrella of District 3810’s new initiatives for the year.
A Grateful Salute to All Who Made It Possible
In an official statement issued after the event, the organizing team expressed their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributed to the successful staging of the District Kick-Off.
“Our deepest gratitude to Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano for her unwavering support and gracious presence during the event. Your commitment to community service and partnership with Rotary District 3810 is truly inspiring.”
“Special thanks as well to District Governor Mary Mei, our dedicated leaders, Rotarians, Rotaractors, and all guests who came in unity and full spirit. From the vibrant Zumba session, the uplifting message of Fr. Alex Balatbat, to the meaningful program highlighting Rotary’s 7 Areas of Focus, your participation made it all worthwhile.”
The message ended with a strong encouragement to all United Chosen Presidents and their Teams, affirming that their energy, collaboration, and shared ideals reflect the very soul of Rotary.
“Let us carry this momentum forward as we serve and uplift more communities. Mabuhay ang District 3810!”
A Call to Action: Serve Beyond the Kick-Off
As the confetti settled and the Astrodome emptied, what lingered in the hearts of those present was a renewed commitment to serve — to transform goodwill into action, and action into lasting impact. With a new Rotary year unfolding, District 3810 is poised once again to be a beacon of hope, leadership, and collective service.
Indeed, the July 2 District Kick-Off Project was more than just an event. It was the launching pad of purpose, a symbol of unity, and a joyful proclamation that together, Rotarians can — and will — Unite for Good.
